Notable Beridzes
This page is not a hall of fame for notable people named Beridze (ბერიძე). The directory gathers people known from historical sources and people kept in oral tradition, and each carries its own grade of evidence.
This directory groups historical persons by period, from the Middle Ages onward. To restore accuracy, it separates people confused until now. Documents confirm three different Teimuraz Beridzes (თეიმურაზ ბერიძე). Sherip (შერიფ) Beridze of Samoleti (სამოლეთი) is not the fighter Sheripa (შერიფა). Rusudan (რუსუდან) Beridze, wife of Merab Kostava (მერაბ კოსტავა), should not be confused with Rusudan, the Ozurgeti (ოზურგეთი) mathematician. Beyond the tables stand four main episodes of memory. The mother of the Oltisi (ოლთისი) Khimshiashvilis (ხიმშიაშვილები), a Beridze by birth, taught her children Vepkhistkaosani (ვეფხისტყაოსანი) by heart. A 1630s drawing shows the poet Vominija (ვომინიჯა). Ioseb-Mose (იოსებ-მოსე), or Ashik Ruhani (აშიქ რუჰანი), was a bilingual Meskhetian bard. A modern poem marks the return of a surname lost in Turkey.
