  At the beginning of the 17th century Cristoforo Castelli mentions the poet Vominija Beridze, who gave Castelli a great deal of help during his stay in Guria.

  Among Castelli's 570 drawings we find a portrait of Vominija Beridze, in which the poet's appearance is described in detail: "She is dressed simply, with a double string of pearls at her neck; her wide mantle is trimmed with fur all round; she wears a headdress decorated with pearls, and two ends of a veil (lechaki) hang down in front; she writes on a paper scroll with a quill pen. In front of her lie a penknife, large scissors and a vessel for fragrant incense."

  In 1627-1654 the learned orientalist Don Cristoforo de Castelli carried out missionary work in Georgia; his sketches include the poet Vomina Beridze, and there is also the following note connected with him:
