Aziza Beridze

აზიზა ბერიძე

Christian villager of Gogasheni, called 'Lekoant Azizai, Simizara's uncle', earlier an overseer at the Ardahan prison. Three Gogasheni tellers say that in the winter of 1918-1919 Muslim irregulars from Dankali put him first on their list of Georgians to be punished, but their commander had been warden of the Ardahan prison and knew him, and the village was spared (passage a-547). The Muslim Aziza Beridze of Mugareti with whom a man of Saro lodged in 1944 (passage a-548) may be another person; the two are not merged. გოგაშენ ში ერთი ვაჟკაცი კაცი ცხოვრობდა, ბერიძე აზიზა, „ლეკოანთ აზიზაი, სიმიზარას ბიძა“. დასასჯელთა სიაში პირველი სწორედ ეს აზიზა ჩაეწერათ დანკლელ თათრებს. შემოვიდნენ თათრები, აზიზამ სუფრა გადააგება. რაზმის მეთაური აზიზას ნაცნობი აღმოჩნდა, ერთად უმუშავიათ არდაგანში, ის ციხის უფროსი ყოფილა, აზიზა კი ზედამ- ხედველი.

In Gogasheni lived a brave man, Beridze Aziza, "Lekoant Azizai, Simizara's uncle". It was this Aziza whom the Tatars of Dankali had written down first on the list of those to be punished. The Tatars came in, and Aziza laid a table for them. The commander of the detachment turned out to be an acquaintance of Aziza; they had worked together in Ardahan, he had been the head of the prison and Aziza an overseer.
