**The Oltisi grandmother who knew ვეფხისტყაოსანი by heart.** On his 1917 expedition through the south-west, **ექვთიმე თაყაიშვილი** (Ekvtime Takaishvili) was astonished by the hundred-year-old mother of the Oltisi **ხიმშიაშვილები** — *a Beridze by birth* — whose memory and learning he found extraordinary: she knew the Knight in the Panther's Skin by heart and had taught it, thoroughly, to her children (C1048, two independent sources; via ი. ბექირიშვილი, *აჭარის ისტორია გვარ-სახელებში*). A Muslim household deep in Ottoman-ruled Tao, in 1917, transmitting Rustaveli orally through a Beridze woman: it is the single most quotable human fact in the whole registry.

She knew The Knight in the Panther's Skin (Vepkhistkaosani) by heart and taught it thoroughly to her children too
