Akhmed Beridze of Zesopeli

Native of Zesopeli in Lower Adjara who told the tale of Chakhal-oghli and the olqoba to Zakaria Chichinadze, as Mgeladze's 2021 dissertation cites from Chichinadze 1916:15 (passage a-523). The same dissertation says the verse-song on the rising was written down in 1859. The only date tied to him is the 1916 citation, so the century is a bracket, not a source statement. Distinct from akhmed-efendi-beridze (Dandalo, 1922): no source links them. Name form from the dative "ახმედ ბერიძეს" in the text. sweep 3 A bsu.edu.ge

Passages

rendering, not the wording of the record

As Zakaria Chichinadze relates, the verse was written down in 1859, a verse-song which had also survived among the people in the form of a tale and concerned the uprising, the olqoba. The tale was told to him by a native of the village of Zesopeli in Lower Adjara, Akhmed Beridze (Chichinadze 1916:15; Akhvlediani, 19442:40; Iashvili, 1948:98; Noghaideli, 1940:98).
