Luka Beridze (Ashugh Shivgha)

ლუკა ბერიძე

The ashugh Şivğa (Shivgha), who also signed as Aşıg Şivğa, Gul Şivğa, Biçara Şivğa and Şivğayi, born in Akhaltsikhe in 1838 (passage a-622). He is the son of Âşık Ruhani, that is Ioseb-Mose Beridze (the site's ashik-ruhani and ioseb-mose-beridze); his brothers Niko (Karagöz) and Pavle were ashughs too. Pushed out by his brothers, he settled at 'Prtena' near Akhaltsikhe, lived in poverty and died there in 1906; his grave is in that village (Türk Edebiyatı İsimler Sözlüğü, entry by Erdoğan Altınkaynak, after Valeh Hacılar 2007). Whether Prtena is the site's ptena is not stated. The Georgian form 'აშუღი შივღა (ლუკა ბერიძე)' is attested in Chorokhi 2026 no. 1 (sweep 2 m436), a literary piece of family memory rated low in sweep 2, so the Georgian attestation is thin. sweep 3 B teis.yesevi.edu.tr
