Today the Beridzes (ბერიძე) are centred in Adjara, on its coast and lowlands, not in Khulo (ხულო) and not in Tbilisi as is often assumed. The region cards and the village list show which villages your fellow Beridzes live in.
The Beridze (ბერიძე) surname brings together several hearths. The largest branch is settled in the lowlands and on the coast of Adjara. In Guria an old princely hearth is attested, which later became a gentry one. By tradition, the oldest cradle of the surname is in Meskheti, in the village of Erkota (ერკოტა). The defter of 1595 names Papuna Berisdze (პაპუნა ბერისძე) in the same village. Besides these main hearths, other branches appeared over time. Tradition holds that part of the Kartli Beridzes came from Meskheti and that those of Samegrelo came from Guria. In Imereti, the roots of the people of Berieti (ბერიეთი) are likewise traced to Meskheti. A separate historical hearth is also attested in Lechkhumi.
