• ვახტანგ ბერიძე დაიბადა 1914 წლის 30 მაისს ქ. ქუთაისში. მისმა მამამ, ცნობილმა მეცნიერმა, ვუკოლ ბერიძემ აღმოსავლეთმცოდნეობის ფაკულტეტი პეტერბურგში დაამთავრა, მერე ქუთაისში ქართულის მასწავლებელი, შემდგომ კი თბილისის უნივერსიტეტის პროფესორი და მეცნიერებათა აკადემიის წევრ-კორესპონდენტი იყო.

  Vakhtang Beridze was born on 30 May 1914 in Kutaisi. His father, the well-known scholar Vukol Beridze, graduated from the faculty of oriental studies in Petersburg, then was a teacher of Georgian in Kutaisi, and later a professor at Tbilisi University and a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences.

  From the very start Vakhtang Beridze became its scientific secretary, from 1960 deputy director, and from 1973, after the death of Giorgi Chubinashvili, director of the institute. In 1974 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
