ვახტანგ ბერიძე იმთავითვე მისი სწავლული მდივანი გახდა, 1960 წლიდან – დირექტორის მოადგილე, ხოლო 1973 წლიდან, გიორგი ჩუბინაშვილის გარდაცვალების შემდეგ, ინსტიტუტის დირექტორი. 1974 წელს აირჩიეს საქართველოს მეცნიერებათა აკადემიის ნამდვილ წევრად.

From the very start Vakhtang Beridze became its scientific secretary, from 1960 deputy director, and from 1973, after the death of Giorgi Chubinashvili, director of the institute. In 1974 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
