rendering, not the wording of the record
The Beridzes living in the village of Chala form two branches: the Totosnebi and the Kurtientebi. The patronymic name of the Totosnebi was formed from the personal name, Toto, of the female ancestor of that kin branch. By tradition, the family name of this branch of the Beridzes was earlier Sumbauri. The toponym "Sumbauri" exists in the village to this day. They link their origin to Khevsureti.
