Âşık Şivğa adıyla tanınan ve "Aşıg Şivğa", "Şivğa", "Gul Şivğa", "Biçara Şivğa" ve "Şivğayi" mahlaslarını kullanan Luka Beridze, Gürcistan'ın Ahıska şehrinde 1838 yılında doğmuştur. Babası Âşık Ruhani (İoseb - Mose Beridze) ve kardeşleri Niko Beridze (Karagöz) ve Pavle Beridze de âşıktır.

Luka Beridze, known as Âşık Şivğa, who used the pen names "Aşıg Şivğa", "Şivğa", "Gul Şivğa", "Biçara Şivğa" and "Şivğayi", was born in 1838 in the Georgian town of Akhaltsikhe. His father, Âşık Ruhani (Ioseb-Mose Beridze), and his brothers Niko Beridze (Karagöz) and Pavle Beridze were also ashiks.
