At various times the Kakhaberidzes and the Gulaberidzes branched off from the Beridze family. The Kakhaberidzes, a surname that split off from the Beridzes, are also recorded in Guria. According to Kveli Chkhataraishvili, King Giorgi III of Georgia granted the Kakhaberidze name (kakhaberidzeoba) to one of the Beridzes.
