Passages

rendering, not the wording of the record

According to Ilia Maisuradze (1965, 1979), the forebears of the Beridzes were three brothers, all three ascetics. Some plague wiped out the people of the village of Zarzma; only the monks (beri) of the monastery there survived, and from that day monkhood was forbidden to them, they were told they must marry. One brother multiplied in Meskheti-Javakheti, the second in Adjara and the third in Guria.
