The formation of Jewish surnames follows general Georgian principles, and from early times surnames ending in "dze" and "shvili" took shape: Batiashvili, Berikashvili, Beridze, Davitashvili, Iakobashvili, Maghalashvili, Paatashvili, Megrelishvili, Simonishvili and so on.
