ნაბეღლავიდან ჩამოსახლებულა ვინმე ხაბულია ბერიძე. მას
ცხრა ვაჟი ჰყოლია ხაბულიას გარდაცვალების შემდეგ,
რთული საცხოვრებელი პირობების (რელიგიური დეენა,
გადასახადები, მოუსაელიანობა) მიუხედავად, მისი შეილები
აქ დარჩენილან ამიტომ სოფელს ხაბულიას "შვილების
მიმსგავსებით ხაბელაშვილები დარქმევია.

About three centuries ago a certain Khabulia Beridze came down to this village from Nabeghlavi. He had nine sons. After Khabulia's death, despite the hard living conditions (religious persecution, taxes, poor harvests), his sons stayed here, and so the village was named Khabelashvilebi after "Khabulia's sons".
