According to another tradition, two brothers surnamed Beridze, who had come here to live from Upper Racha, made a name for themselves among the local farmers by raising an abundant wheat harvest, and the people gave them a second surname, Khorbaladze. In the course of time the descendants of the Beridzes moved to Samtskhe, while those who stayed in Ozurgeti kept the surname Khorbaladze.
