In 2003-2004 the people of Zesopeli built a chapel on the ruins of the fortress without permission. In 2012-2015, in the centre of the village, on the initiative of the first Adjarian clergyman, Archpriest (dekanozi) Serapime (Beridze), a hall church dedicated to St Seraphim of Sarov was built.
