Later the Beridzes were "demoted" for some reason; we do not know what caused the decline of the house of the Beridzes. We know only that it happened from the XVII century on. Until 1664 the office of chief steward of guests (mestumretukhutsesi) was in the hands of the Beridzes, and afterwards it passed into the hands of the Nakashidzes.

At the turn of the 17th–18th centuries the princely (თავადი) ბერიძე house of გურია declined: the offices it had held at the court of the გურიელი passed to the ნაკაშიძე family, and the ბერიძეები were reduced to the rank of აზნაური. In the 18th century the childless აზნაური მამუკა ბერიძე of დვაბზუ bequeathed his estate to საყვარელ ნაკაშიძე.
