The bishop of Jumati (Jumateli) was also of this same surname, according to the 1687 chronicle of the Shemokmedi gulani (liturgical miscellany): "Here Jumateli Ine Beridze took the seat as Jumateli." (According to Vakhushti, Ioane Beridze is bishop of Jumati in 1688.)

Bishop იოანე ბერიძე headed the ჯუმათი diocese in Guria around the turn of the 18th century. His installation is dated 1687 (ქართველიშვილი 2006, via Georgian Wikipedia and გურიის მოამბე), 1688 (AKAK VI/2, 1875, after Bakradze's Gurian acts) and 1704 (the Shemokmedi gulani notes printed by Brosset, 1850).
