In Guria the Beridzes were a prominent family, as is shown by the fact that at the court of Giorgi III Gurieli members of this family held two offices (sakhelo): the witnesses of a Gurieli charter are the majordomo (sakhltukhutsesi) Otar Beridze and the master of guests (mestumretukhutsesi) Giorgi Beridze. From 1664 the Beridzes' offices at the Gurieli court were taken over by the Nakashidzes, and that is how the decline of the Beridze family began.

At the turn of the 17th–18th centuries the princely (თავადი) ბერიძე house of გურია declined: the offices it had held at the court of the გურიელი passed to the ნაკაშიძე family, and the ბერიძეები were reduced to the rank of აზნაური. In the 18th century the childless აზნაური მამუკა ბერიძე of დვაბზუ bequeathed his estate to საყვარელ ნაკაშიძე.
