In matters of having or lacking children, of health and illness, eastern Georgia knew the practice of "setting up a boy as a beri" (berad daqeneba) (in Kartli), "placing as a beri" (berad sheqeneba) // "setting up as a kurete" (kuretad daqeneba) (in Kakheti), "entrusting as a beri" (berad mibareba) (in the mountains of eastern Georgia). As a sign of mourning, "beris of the year" (tslis berebi) are attested (in Tusheti);
