Due to internal migration, it has also become the single most widespread surname in the capital, თბილისი (Tbilisi), with nearly 12,000 bearers.
ბერიძე is not among the most common surnames in the capital, თბილისი — the 2008 top-seven list for Tbilisi (headed by მაისურაძე, 4,678) does not include it. Its stronghold is the region of აჭარა (Adjara), where it was the single most widespread surname with 11,935 bearers according to 2008 figures reproduced by geogen.ge (issuing agency not stated); it also ranked third in სამცხე-ჯავახეთი (1,510).
